Random Question

Why do chow-chows have blue tongues? O.o

Oh lord ;_;

Random post before I go to sleep…

So, I’ve been spending a lot of time on this certain forum which happens to have a chat room. A fair amount of the more active members happen to be from Europe, and with them being several hours ahead of us and stuff, a lot of people went to sleep a few hours ago. So I was alone, chatting with this guy from the UK, when he randomly says:

“Wait. If you’re from Canada, how can you speak fluent English?”

… is this what things have come to? Is Canada so out of sync with the rest of the world that even the British don’t know we speak English over here? I gotta admit it, I found that funny at first but now it’s kinda sad… O.o

Random thought

Last night, as I was lying in bed, I was thinking about Starcraft 2. Then I started thinking about Kang and Kodos from the Simpsons since they’re aliens too. Then I had one epic question:

If (and when) we ever do encounter a sentient extra-terrestrial species, what would they think when they see all the stuff involving aliens that we’ve got on TV, in video games, etc.? I mean, would they take it as propaganda against their species? Considering all the stuff that depicts aliens as human-eating/infecting/killing monsters, I don’t think they’d be too impressed…

Spam comments amuse me.

I just noticed there were 11 comments in my spam queue, so I decided to read them just to see what they had going on. There’s this one hilarious series of comments on my “Random Announcement” post…  there were 3 comments of “I cannot believe this will work!”, 1 “Folks, do not believe in this bullshit.”, 1 “Sometimes it’s really that simple, isn’t it? I feel a little stupid for not thinking of this by myself.”, and this came in this morning: “I cannot believe this is true!”

I can’t help but find it funny how generic those comments are and yet they still managed to not fit the context of that post at all XD

What would happen if…

I’m sitting here eating some spicy chicken-flavoured Mr. Noodles, and I just got struck by a thought:

So spicy stuff makes your mouth/throat feel hot, right?

And then certain foods like minty gum make your mouth feel cold, right?

What would happen if you ate something spicy, then mint gum?

Random thing I noticed

Anyone watch Canada’s Worst Handyman? How about those funny cartoons on Homestarrunner.com? Well, I’m pretty sure there are very few people out there who happen to watch both, but I’ll point this out anyways:

The guy on Canada’s Worst Handyman 5, Deen, sounds suspiciously like Strong Bad from Homestar Runner. Just thought I’d point that out.

Ah, the good ol’ days…

Fiddling around with hexadecimal data and discussing the good ol’ days and telling MK how to use emulators has inspired me to tell the internet about my childhood, back in 2000-2002.

I was 6 when we moved to Halifax in 2000. I never really grew attached to our NES until we’d moved to a place that didn’t have a really scary basement. But once I started getting stuff figured out, I really enjoyed the whopping THREE games we owned for the dear old NES (God rest its soul ;.;): Super Mario, Duck Hunt (I preferred shooting the disks which I thought were pancakes, they didn’t have that annoying dog giggling at you) and Monster Truck Rally.

Monster Truck Rally was probably the least-played game by all of us, because of how clunky the controls were… and to those condescending 20+ year-olds saying “wtf, that game was so easy,” be quiet, I was six years old XD

Duck Hunt was a classic. This must be the game that planted the seed in my mind that would grow into my love of first-person shooters with real peripherals. We had that funky little orange shotgun peripheral, and I don’t think I’ll ever truly understand how that thing worked, but who cares, I loved Duck Hunt ❤

Then there was Super Mario. It actually became a daily thing with my family after a while: right after dinner, we would go downstairs and all take turns playing for an hour. And get this: my mom was better than me at this game. Of course, I was- agh, I’ll stop using the “I was just a little kid” excuse now, if it were her and me playing that game now I’d totally be schooling her XD

Ooh, did I mention I was the one in the family who discovered the Warp Zone in World 1-2? I felt pretty special when we got to skip a few levels. Though none of us ever, ever managed to get to Bowser once.

Note to self: deliver MK’s high-five to mom in the morning.

Now to totally divert from the nostalgia and stuff, I put my hair up in a sort-of double-bun to see what would happen when my hair dries. By double-bun, I mean I put my hair in a bun, but then I had a lot of loose strands sticking out so I brought them together to make a second mini-bun under the first bun. Bun’s a funny word.
